No one likes to talk about their digestion. At least, I’m pretty sure. I definitely don’t. But here I am, talking about it anyway. Not sure why I let that happen. Oh yeah, I thought this recipe was awesome and wanted to share it with anyone else who might want to help their digestion but not talk about it… ;)
Can I keep being honest? I’m not a big fan of the flavor of prunes. I think they taste like a dead piece of fruit (oh the irony). But do I use them a lot in my cooking? Yep. That’s only because I know they are good for me and they do add a natural sweetness if combined with other things. I usually try and mask the flavor though. So if you’re a lover of prunes, please forgive me for compromising their natural ‘goodness’. And if you don’t like the flavor of prunes, like me, you’ve come to the right place ;)
Prunes have a lot of health benefits, in addition to making you regular… But there are other sites that say it a lot better, like this one. So if you’re not on the prune bandwagon yet, think about it! It’s a healthy one.
‘Cleaning House’ Dessert Smoothie
10 prunes, soaked
1 medium banana
2 TBS cocoa powder
2 tsp all natural peanut butter, optional (but I can’t imagine having chocolate without peanut butter… ;))
1 tsp vanilla – 3/4 cup water
5 drops NuNaturals Alcohol-free Liquid Stevia, optional (or can sub in honey)
Add the prunes and water to a high powered blender and turn on medium for about 30 seconds, just to get the prunes chopped up. Then add all your other ingredients and continue to blend until smooth.
Serve immediately and enjoy!
