Revolution indeed. It’s rare for a TV show to make me laugh, warm my heart, AND make me cry all within 45 minutes. It’s also rare that I’ll sit down and spend 45 minutes on a TV show at all, so let that convince you that this really did strike a cord with me. As its streamed online, I’ll be sure to not miss the episodes to come!

Okay, so I also feel a bit redundant with this post – it seems a lot of foodies in the blogosphere have been talking about it, BUT… in case you haven’t heard about it, let me take the time to tell you a little something about it and convince you to watch!

Jamie Oliver is an English chef who decided to come to the U.S. to try and make a difference. He changed the face of food in schools in England and he hopes to make a change for us as well. He’s gone to a town in the country that was statistically called the most unhealthy town in the country and he’s trying to make a difference there for starters. He wants to educate the community and show families that they can cook differently to save their health AND their money.

So in the pilot episode he does two things. He starts by entering an elementary school lunch room and helping out the current cooks there to see how their system works. In the episodes that follow I’m really excited to see what he does to facilitate change. (And if it takes!)

The other piece he did in the pilot episode was to be introduced to a family that was overweight and not all that healthy. It was powerful just to see the hope the family had when he got there! You could tell that they wanted to do better, but that they just didn’t know how.

I cried, its true. And I’m willing to bet you’ll cry too.

So set up your laptop, all comfy-like, and head over to watch the first episode of Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution.

    I’ve heard of the show and it definitely looks very interesting. I can speak from my own experience and say that there really are people out there who just don’t know how to THINK about what they’re eating. When I was on WW for a while, it amazed me to think that if I went out to dinner with my husband and ate what I would usually eat, I’d be eating my entire points allowance with JUST the meal and not even dessert! Shocking! It may seem like common sense, and it is, but when you’re not in tune with that common sense and don’t know how to listen to it, you’re lost.

    Anyway, I’m finished rambling now!

  5. Hey all, thanks for coming by! I do hope you’re all enjoying the show now :) Even though I have my opinions on reality tv, I see so much good coming out of this one!

    And Mrs. Jen B, ‘rambling’ is my favorite! Can’t get enough of ramblings :D I used to do weight watchers too! I was always frustrated by how challenging it was to eat out. I hope I’ve gained a bit more common sense about eating recently though, I’ve been trying!
